I still can’t believe I shared 5 minutes on air with Matt Cardle on Five’s Live With Gabby ??? And I grabbed a cheeky kiss off him too. Well, wouldn’t you?? And it was all in the name of BEER. Of course!
It was a bit surreal cos he won X Factor back in 2010 (which was the most watched series of the show SO FAR!), he’s a platinum-selling artist, is about to go on a UK Tour and stuff and despite all that he has a very chilled aura. And there I was plying him with beer at 11 o’clock in the morning live on national television!
He was very excited by it all cos he loves a decent beer.
It’s still on FIVE ON DEMAND for the next few days, so click here and watch Matt Cardle’s interview at the top of the show, then I pop up at 10mins in. Matt performs at the end of the show too. Fabulous!
Here’s the list of the beers in order that we did them. Go try them if you’ve not had any before!!
1. Fraoch – Heather Ale – Williams Brothers – Alloa, Scotland – 5%. Going into Morrisons store nationwide VERY SOON – a fabulous ‘in on the ground floor’ beer, for anyone who’s new to beer and is put off by drinking beer because of its characteristic bitterness. This one is made with Heather and - as you saw – went down very well with Gabby and Matt.
For a cheeky twist, why not check out their very devilish Fraoch 22 – strictly limited edition of the beer which has been aged in single malt whisky casks. It’s off the HOOK!! Sherry, whisky and woody flavours all coming through - a delight to my senses.
2. Pride n Joy – Welton’s Brewery in Sussex – 2.8% – probably the oldest low ABV on the market. They haven’t really caught on here yet but so for those who make it they can enjoy the absence of beer duty on it. Some of those fab Mr. Trotter’s GREAT BRITISH PORK SCRATCHINGS were nearby too! Have you tried them yet? Made with british port and not Danish pork and no MSG in them so noticeably less fatty and cloying in the mouth when you eat them.
3. Vitesse Noir – Hardknott Brewery in Cumbria – 11% - a ridiculously delicious beer made with chocolate from France, coffee beans from Latin America and Vanilla from Papua New Guinea. If you don’t know Hardknott then get to know them. Speciality, bottle-conditioned beers that will frighten the horses at any CAMRA beer festival
4. Golden Glory – Badger Ales in Dorset – 4.5% - this is a gorgeous fruity English beer, brewed in Dorset with a fabulous aroma of peach which I think translates well, a bit sweeter than perhaps some people would like, but right up my street
5. Jaipur- Thornbridge Brewery in Bakewell, Derbyshire – 5.9% – you know how much I love these guys. Hoppy grapefruity punch, I get some honey in the middle of this too, lingering sweetness for me. A lot more moreish for me on cask than in bottle but cracking which ever way you like to take it. Get in!
Hope you enjoyed it!
So anyway
